Curious about martial arts but not sure where to start? Our beginner-friendly trial class is the perfect way to dip your toes in! You don’t need any previous experience, and there’s no need to be super fit or flexible—we welcome everyone, especially total beginners.
From the moment you arrive, one of our warm and welcoming instructors will greet you and guide you through everything. We’ll show you to your seat, help you fill in a quick consent form, and then get you ready for the session. Classes take place on our fully matted training floor—so you can feel safe and comfortable as you train. (Oh, and we all train barefoot, just so you know!)
So, what can you expect in a beginner class?
1️⃣ Class Kick-Off
We start by lining up on red floor markers—tallest at the back so everyone can see. You’ll hand in your attendance card, salute the flags, and take a few calming breaths with some seated meditation.
2️⃣ Warm-Up Time
A gentle warm-up gets everyone moving, stretching, and feeling strong. It’s designed to loosen your muscles, build strength, and boost flexibility. 💪
3️⃣ Learn the Basics
You’ll be introduced to some classic martial arts techniques—stances, chops, kicks, and punches—all practiced on the spot, so there’s no pressure to move around just yet.
4️⃣ Focus Technique
Every class includes a special technique focus—this could be a cool kick, a blocking move, or a self-defence combo. You’ll get to try it out in a supportive and encouraging space.
5️⃣ Meet BOB!
Once you’ve got the technique down, it’s time to try it on the equipment—punching pads, Wavemaster bags, and yes… BOB (our Body Opponent Bag). It’s super satisfying to strike something solid!
6️⃣ Life Skills Matter
Each class wraps in a short and inspiring chat on leadership or a valuable life skill—something to take with you beyond the training floor.
7️⃣ Cool Down & Respect
We finish with some light stretches, another salute to the flags, and a bow to thank the spectators and each other.

Your safety is our top priority. No sparring, no wrestling, no throws, and no partner work in this class—just a great intro to martial arts in a relaxed, controlled environment.
