Hi there! I’m Robert Salter, and together with my wife Katie, we run Family Martial Arts Centres—a place built by families, for families. As parents ourselves, we truly understand the challenges kids face growing up, and we’re here to support them every step of the way.

At our centre, your child will have a blast learning exciting Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do, covering all aspects of Korean kickboxing. What Can You Expect From Kickboxing Training?

We teach the dynamic martial art of Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do which covers all aspects of Korean kickboxing training, including kicking, punching, blocking and fitness training. Our centre is fully equipped with hanging punch bags, floor standing punch bags, hook and jab pads etc. the sort of equipment you would expect to find in a kickboxing school.

Our Positive Start programme is perfect for beginners with little or no experience and will give the student a solid foundation in the basics of martial arts techniques and kickboxing skills. You will very quickly experience the many benefits:-

As you advance through the belt ranks and become more proficient you will quickly progress onto partner work using various types of equipment including:

Students will learn advanced combination techniques, self-defence techniques and also have the opportunity to participate in fun and exciting non-contact sparring using safety headguards and sparring gloves.

What Are The Different Aspects Of Kickboxing Training?

We will take you through the various aspects of Kickboxing with our training here at Family Martial Arts Centre. This will include the different strikes, footwork, defensive skills and sparring that are fundamental to Kickboxing.

  1. Strikes: are key for Kickboxing and we will teach you the various techniques, including the martial arts kicks, elbow and knee strikes, and the punches, that you will need to know.
  2. Stances: Kickboxing training will also focus on footwork, another critical aspect for Kickboxing success. As such, our training will encompass agility, balance and positioning work.
  3. Defensive skills: will also be part of our Kickboxing training, and this will focus on defensive positioning as well as blocks and parries.
  4. Sparring: Finally, sparring with a partner will also make up our Kickboxing training. This will be supportive, controlled and safe at all times whilst wearing safety gear.

Kickboxing For Mental Health

Kickboxing is a combat sport that can bring a number of mental health benefits. As well as providing a sense of achievement, and boosting your Confidence and Self esteem, this martial art can also help you practise Mindfulness. This is the action of focusing your attention on the present, leaving you feeling de-stressed, and fulfilled.

Kickboxing sessions for children can also result in these mental health benefits, with notable impacts on concentration and behaviour in the classroom. That’s why we offer Kickboxing training classes for children from 3-4, and 5+, here at Family Martial Arts Centre.
